Handed my ticket to the cashier at the car wash, but she didn’t notice at first. Her eyes were wide and angry and fixed on two kids playing with some toys on a nearby rack.
“Don’t these stupid kids know how to read?” she asked. “There are two signs on the rack saying not to play with the toys.”
She took my ticket and rang me up. While waiting for the card to charge she explained that no matter what she does she just can’t stop kids from playing with toys and breaking them.
“I don’t know what to do with these stupid kids,” she said.
“Maybe a third sign,” I suggested. “A really big one.”
My suggestion was a sarcastic one, but a few minutes later, while waiting for my car, I saw the cashier making a sign. It was huge.
